
About Mesquite Metro Airport
Mesquite Metro Airport has been serving the region since 1975, expanding several time to the become a key economic driver in the region.
Located just 15 miles from downtown Dallas, the airport features a concrete runway (18/36) that is 6,000 long by 100 feet wide, a relatively new air traffic control tower to ensure safety, provides several community based services and programs, such as police, fire, and medical flight support.


What is a Master Plan?
A Master Plan is a proactive document that identifies and then plans for future facility needs to ensure that airport management can coordinate project approvals, design, financing, and construction to avoid experiencing detrimental effects due to inadequate facilities. The ultimate goal of the study is to provide systematic guidelines for the airport’s overall maintenance, development, and operation.


Why Update the Master Plan?
The City of Mesquite is undertaking an update of the Airport Master Plan, which was last prepared in 2006, to evaluate the airport’s capabilities and role, to forecast future aviation demand, to plan for the timely development of new or expanded facilities that will meet demand and FAA design standards, and to strive for economic self-sufficiency.
